Memorable Dairy Evening With Entertainment

  • Mood:
This week we have been talking about dairy products and today we end the whole chapter with having a creative and experimental night. We have been given each dairy product to be creative with and mine was Cottage Cheese. As we are 11 in the class we were embracing ourself to get really full but surprisingly everyone thought about that and made a tasting portion(a really small portion) so we don't have to cut open our belly just to get all the food in one place.

Toast Smoked Cheese
I made a small circle toast: I roasted the toast with butter in a pan
On top of the toast I put a mixture of cottage cheese and some honey so it will get some sweetness. Beside the cottage cheese I added fine chopped smoked ham and topped it with a half green grape. Picture will be added later when I get one. I forgot to take a picture of my creation.

First course was a sour milk soup with herbs and cucumber and beetroot bread and the second was a cheese soup. The third was my toast. The fourth course was a crisp bread topped herring, herbs, eggs and sour cream mixture. But before we were going to dig in...something rang very loudly and everyone was stunned as we didn't know what was the loud sound. Then it dawned on everyone and one of my class mates said:

-Isn't it the fire alarm?

A second later everyone rushed out to the kitchen to see what's burning. Flames was burning from a pot with melted butter and the fire was quickly extinguished. We went out to wait for the fire brigade to arrive and it took them 10 minutes. The head chef who also was our teacher for the dinner night was a bit jumpy after extinguishing the fire so she called the gastronomy program's head to assist her. She really need some liquor to calm down . The gastronomy program head was bowling only 5 minutes from the campus so he ran to us and helped her with dealing with the fire men.

Three fire cars came and the school's alarm inspector came and inspected the damage and alarm all the doors that should be alarmed. Our gastronomy institution is wall with wall with the campus' restaurant and the student union so they have to lock and alarm everything again except our institution after the fire men left.  It might have 20-40 minutes we could retake our dinner night again and then everything went fine. After we sat down we made jokes with the guy who started the fire and praised him for giving such memorable entertainment and made fun with the fire. Even though we realised the seriousness in what could have happen if it was a big fire or the kitchen fan in the stove was on, some fire sparkles could get into the pipes and a bigger fire would take place. We were quite happy about it was a small fire and unexpected too.

We had buttery cakes, a soft cottage cheese chocolate piece with a raspberry soft cottage cheese ice cream, food yoghurt ice cream with soft firm honey, blue cheese  sauce with a tiny leek quiche, Brie cheese in croissant, one piece with Brie cheese with acacia honey and roasted nuts pieces and a tiny filled petit chou with pear and Brie cheese.
2 Amount of Cheers.

It sounds like you had a lot of excitement with the fire. Aren't you glad you didn't start it? I would think that would be pretty embarrassing in a cooking school to start a fire where the fire department has to be called in. You look very nice in your chef's uniform. I laughed when you said the head chef needed some liquor to calm her down. LOL
